About Our Program

Religious Education classes are offered on Wednesday evenings at either 4:30-5:50 or 6:30-7:50 for grades kindergarten through 7th. Classes run from September-April. Classes are taught by volunteers, both parents of children in our program and other adults, college students and older teens. Our teachers are given special training, ongoing support and all materials that are needed in order to be successful in passing on the Faith.

The students will have the opportunity to attend family Masses, Adoration and Stations of the Cross; participate in the telling of Bible stories, Bible study, service projects, and question and answer sessions with our priests. Additionally, weekly sessions help your child learn about and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.

Parental involvement is a must. We are partners in the religious education of your children, with key support and involvement beginning at home. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend a class or any of the events mentioned above.

We look forward to your family joining our family!

With the new e-system through FACTS, families can set up an account, complete registration information and select a payment plan. All payments will now be processed online for increased confidentiality and efficiency. The $225 family-based fee for the 2017-18 year can be paid in one annual payment (due within 7-14 days of registering) or divided into three equal installments.

NOTE: ALL families need to register through this system, even if they have registered for RE in the past. Additionally, if you are an SSPP School family with a 2nd grader, please also register through the system so we can include you in important Sacrament prep communications. For School families, your cost is only $30 to cover supplies, as your instructional portion is already factored into your school tuition.

We are enjoying a wonderful Religious Education year so far and are looking forward to many fun things coming! Click HERE when you are ready to register!

RE Volunteer Opportunities

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS IN MANY ROLES--Find the one that's right for you!

We are always looking for volunteers, and you don't have to have a student in the program to participate! The hours are flexible, and the pay is immeasurable! Take a peek at the volunteer form and let us know how you'd like to help. No experience? Reach out anyway. We are always excited to meet new volunteers who want to learn with our students, and we'll give you all the tools you need!

Right now, we have a big need for a CROSSING GUARD (or few). We have had instances where students are walking to cars along the curb or in the parking lot, and cars have driven much too quickly through the lot, endangering the students. Please let us know if you can spend a few minutes before or after a class period to help us keep the kids safe!

Additionally, we are always looking for volunteers in the following areas:

  • Substitute office aides
  • Substitute Catechists & Catechist Aides
  • Miscellaneous needs (bulletin boards, copying, cutting, etc)
  • Musicians or music director
  • Jesus Day Retreat actors for our Living Last Supper

Please feel free to complete an pdf RE Volunteer Form (214 KB) and return it to our office. Please contact Lauren Stark at the Religious Education office at (847) 639-0414 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information.

Missed a Sacrament?

Students at SS. Peter and Paul typically make their First Reconciliation and receive their First Holy Communion in 2nd grade.  If your child is older and has missed these sacraments, not to worry. Depending on your child's age and any previous religious education, we have programs in place to integrate them in the weekly classes and provide additional unique insight into their faith with family support.

Please contact Lauren Stark, the coordinator of religious education at 847-639-0414, ext 325 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  for more information.
